NEW at Virostat Inc.
Zika virus is a mosquito-‐borne Flavivirus. It is usually a mild, self-‐limiting infection of short duration resulting in fever and a rash. The symptoms are similar to those caused by Dengue virus and Chikungunya virus. However recent cases during pregnancy have resulted in fetal neurological complications with resulting birth defects. There is also evidence that the virus can be transmitted sexually. ViroStat has just released a set of new monoclonal antibodies to the NS1 protein of Zika virus. These new antibodies do not cross react with the related Flaviviruses tested as well as Chikungunya virus. They function in IFA and pair in ELISA.
New Enterovirus Monoclonal Antibodies
Enteroviruses are a diverse group of RNA viruses including Poliovirus, Rhinoviruses, Coxsackie A & B viruses, and Echoviruses. Most are acquired via the fecal-‐oral route and exhibit symptomologies from the common cold and conjunctivitis to myocarditis, sepsis and flaccid paralysis. The most recently discovered members of this genus are numbered as EV68, EV70, EV71 etc. ViroStat has just released three new specific monoclonal antibodies to EV71 (hand, foot and mouth disease)
New Entamoeba histolytica Monoclonal Antibodies
E. histolytica is an anaerobic parasite that causes amoebic dysentery. It infects humans and other primates via the fecal oral route. Symptoms include abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea and weight loss. It can result in intestinal lesions and liver abscess. ViroStat has just released a set of new mouse monoclonal antibodies to E. histolytica. These new antibodies function in ELISA and lateral flow applications and thus serve as excellent tools for the detection of this parasite.
New Chlamydia pneumoniae Monoclonal Antibodies
C. pneumoniae is a gram negative bacterium that infects humans commonly causing pharyngitis, bronchitis and atypical pneumonia. It is also implicated in causing coronary artery disease. It is an obligate intracellular pathogen whose resistant elementary body (EB) form exists between human and animal hosts. As such, cell culture is required to isolate it. ViroStat has introduced 3 new monoclonal antibodies that are specific to C. pneumoniae and do not cross react with the related C. trachomatis and C. psittaci. They function in ELISA & IFA and are candidates for rapid test applications.
ViroStat, Inc. is a primary manufacturer of infectious disease antigens and antibodies, supplying researchers and manufacturers since 1985.
